Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Great earphones Comment: I am a big fan of Bose products, but the price is just too high. A friend of mine introduced me to Audio-Technica and their noise cancelling headphones. I think they are equal in quality to Bose earphones and with the cost savings, you would be crazy to spend triple the price. I heard them one evening and bought them the next day. Customer Rating: Summary: Does not even approach the Bose QC2 in terms of sound quality Comment: After owning the Bose QC2's for about two years, I decided to spring for the Audio Technicas. I did so because I wanted another pair of headphones that I could keep in my car, which were not that expensive. Yes, The Audio Technica cans seem sturdier than the Bose. However, they are definitely less comfortable. Noise reduction seems just as good as QC2's. Now for the reason that one buys headphones: The Sound The Audio Technicas don't even come close! The bass is muddy and the highs are brittle. After doing about an hour's worth of comparison at home, utilizing different genres of music, i.e. Country, Jazz, and Classical, I rededicated myself to the QC2's. I used an IPOD Touch as the music source. I am a musician, and am very particular about sound. The balance of the AT's just isn't there. I agree with others that call the AT a good compromise alternative to the Bose. The key word here is "compromise." They cost less than 1/3 the price and sound pretty decent....but much inferior to the Bose. The only headphones that approach the Bose at this price point (IMHO) are the Sennheiser 595's and they are not noise cancelling and too bulky to bring with me. If you love your music, spring for the Bose QC2's. Customer Rating: Summary: Everything they advertise Comment: I looked at several different Noise Cancelling Headphones before choosing the Audio-Technica brand. Most noise cancelling headphones work for steady rumbling noises (such as jet engine noise), but have a more difficult time with ambient noises (such as office or home background noises). These work great for blocking the home noises and allowing me to work uninterupted. I have not yet tried them on a airplane, but I expect they will perform well. They are everything they advertise on their website. In addition, they come with a nice carrying case which fits nicely in a briefcase.
