This remote is fantastic! It is quite easy to setup once you have played with it a little it's a breeze! Now I have to press one button using the activity menu to turn on my TV, Cable Box & Surround Sound system at the same time. You can also operate any of these using the devices function and it is very easy to use. I was dubious because it is extra buttons to press to get what you need, BUT it is much easier than hunting for the remote only to find your child is using it as a teething ring :-) She certainly is not getting this one!!! ;-) This was a refurbished product but you would not have known as it came as if it was new and there were NO marks on this whatsoever! VERY PLEASED with this product and am considering purchasing another one for our family room. Customer Rating: Summary: The Best Component of my Home Theater Comment: The local high-end stereo store wanted to sell me a $350 universal remote, and charge me $300 to program it. YIKES! I found this remote in an article I was reading, and Amazon had it for less than 1/2 price. It had a lot of good customer and professional reviews--and it's awesome. Super easy to program on your computer. You select an activity (watch TV), select which components you want turned on (TV, cable box, receiver), select where you want the sound to come from (receiver), answer a few other questions, and that's it. Do the same for "Watch DVD", "Play Game", "Listen to CD", and you are done with the basics. Then, you can customize the 8 soft keys around the LCD screen (On Demand, My DVR, Live TV, etc.) in addition to the buttons on the remote (which can ALSO be reprogrammed). Then you plug the remote into the USB cable, and in about 3 minutes, you are done. It also has a great "Help" button. Sometimes, a component doesn't pick up a remote's signal and doesn't turn on. You hit "Watch TV" and the Cable Box doesn't come on. Hit "Help" and the screen asks you if it "Fixed the Problem". If not, it then asks you, "Is the Cable Box on?" Yes/No. You press "NO" and it should turn on the cable box. Then it confirms "did that fix the problem? Yes/No?" If Yes, you are done and ready to watch. You can also switch the control to individual components for more detailed control. The LCD screen for the Cable Box control has 6 pages--you can control every function of your cable or satellite remote, and every other remote. I would have preferred rubber buttons, instead of hard plastic. And I don't particularly like the hourglass shape--but I'm completely satisfied with this product. More Reviews
